AQA A-level History past papers and mark schemes

AQA A-level History, specification 7042, is split into Component 1: Breadth study (options 1A–1L) and Component 2: Depth study (options 2A–2T). Each option has its own group in the list, from 1A: The Age of the Crusades, c1071–1204 through to 2T: The Crisis of Communism: The USSR and the Soviet Empire, 1953–2000, so look for the codes of the options you are studying before anything else.
Both components last 2 hours 30 minutes. There are 321 papers on the page, 118 for Component 1 and 203 for Component 2, taken from 9 exam series between June 2017 and June 2025 and including 60 specimen papers. Every one has a mark scheme. AQA hosts most of these files itself; a smaller share opens on Physics & Maths Tutor. With this many options it pays to filter early: set aside everything except your own breadth and depth studies, then sit those papers timed and mark them against the mark scheme.
