Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) English Language past papers and mark schemes

71 papers · June 2016 – June 2025

Each of the four Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) English Language units is marked out of 50, and this page lists 71 papers for them: 69 from 18 exam series, June 2016 to June 2025, and 2 specimens. The unit codes are WEN01, WEN02, WEN03 and WEN04, and their headings are ‘Language: Context and Identity’, ‘Language in Transition’, ‘Crafting Language (writing)’ and ‘Investigating Language’. Units 1 and 2 are 1 hour 45 minutes; Units 3 and 4 are 2 hours.

All 71 papers have a mark scheme and 70 have an insert, so keep the source material in front of you when you practise. Two of the papers are specimens. The series listed are January and June sittings, and there is no June 2020 entry. Unit 1 has the most papers at 19, while Units 3 and 4 have 17 each. Most files are hosted by Pearson, with a couple opening on Physics & Maths Tutor.

Long written answers are easy to put off, so book a fixed slot to write one answer at a time against the clock and compare it with the mark scheme afterwards. Reschedule is a revision planner that keeps those slots in your week. You give it your subjects, exam board, paper dates and study hours, and it plans each subtopic before the paper that examines it.
