Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) English Literature past papers and mark schemes

70 papers · January 2017 – June 2025

Drama, poetry, prose and Shakespeare give the four Pearson Edexcel International A Level (IAL) English Literature units their headings: ‘Unit 1: Post-2000 Poetry and Prose (WET01/01)’, ‘Unit 2: Drama (WET02/01)’, ‘Unit 3: Poetry and prose (WET03/01)’ and ‘Unit 4: Shakespeare and Pre-1900 Poetry (WET04/01)’. Each is a 2-hour paper out of 50 marks.

This page lists 70 papers: 67 from 17 exam series, January 2017 to June 2025, and 3 specimens. Every paper has a mark scheme, 45 have an insert and 3 are specimens. Units 1 and 3 have 18 papers each, while Units 2 and 4 have 17. In the list, January 2020 is followed by January 2021, so there is no June 2020 sitting here. Pearson hosts most of the files, and a small number open on Physics & Maths Tutor.

It is worth writing full answers rather than only plans, because timing is hard to judge until you have written against a clock. Start with older series and keep the most recent ones for the run-up to your exams. Reschedule is a revision planner.
